My name is Salim October and I developed Foto Melange out of my interest in helping people to capture and share the beauty of their lives through pictures. I believe that creating images is a mechanism for people to sustain their memories. Providing these relived experiences creates an indelible mark in the minds of my clients and most importantly family and friends can appreciate them long after they occur. I have worked for over ten years in the field of development addressing various issues including HIV and AIDS, Sexual Reproductive Health, Safety and Security and Gender. In my occupation as a photographer I tend to incorporate the values, sensitivities, professionalism, humanity and empathy gained from such diverse experiences. My passion for the creative art and science of photography was nurtured through my days engaging in the fine arts of painting and drawing, physics as I played with light and my travels to various countries. I prefer photographing people on location in the outdoors which comes from my appreciation of nature. This is reflective of my vast outdoor adventure past in my native land of Guyana, South America.
